Official Source (Primary Verification)

The primary link used to verify an outcome. This is typically a Police newsroom release, CPS report, court statement, or other recognised official publication confirming the conviction, sentence, or order(s).

Independent Media (Editorial Reporting)

Where available, a second link from a recognised newsroom (e.g., BBC, ITV, major regional press, national outlets) reporting the case independently. This strengthens public access, transparency, and cross-reference.

If no such coverage is identified at the time of review, the field may state: “No independent newsroom coverage identified at time of review.”

Secondary Report (Public Access / Link-Rotation Protection)

Some official releases are later archived, moved, or removed. Where independent newsroom coverage is unavailable, a secondary public report (for example, a regional publication or syndicated report) may be included to preserve public access to the same case details.

If no secondary report is available at the time of review, the field may state: “No secondary public report identified beyond the official source.”

Reference Types

BF entries are verified using official sources and, where possible, independent media coverage.
PH entries are based on publicly shared information from the safeguarding and awareness community and are clearly labelled as such.

Updates & Link Changes

Entries may be updated if additional reputable coverage becomes available, if official links change, or if further court outcome details are published. Where links move over time, we aim to preserve public access through archived or secondary reporting where appropriate.
